I am not a big fan of conspiracy theorists. Quite frankly I don’t think our government is capable of pulling off a huge hoax so that shoots a hole in the vast majority of the crazy tales I hear.
That being said I do think it’s true that we do have much less privacy than we did even 10 years ago. But we have brought that on ourselves by posting every detail of our lives on our blogs, our Facebook pages, or YouTube. We have access to celebrity gossip 24 hours a day. We are so afraid of being “out of touch” in our own lives for even a minute so we text during dinners out and post updates to Twitter while we are using the restroom.
I personally have a blog (obviously) and a Facebook page. I love being able to re-connect with people I haven’t seen in years on-line and I love being able to express myself in ways that didn’t exist 5 years ago. But I do try to think about who might be looking at the things I post- especially now that so many members of my family are online too!
I don’t have the answers as to what is coming next. But I don’t see this information tide turning around- if anything it’s going to pick up speed! Are you concerned about protecting your privacy and if so what you are doing out it?
