Today is Festival of Sleep Day! This is quite possibly the best “wacky” holiday I have ever heard of!
If you know anything about me, you know how much I love sleep. I have a sign in my cube that states my goals are “#1 Get Up, #2 Survive, #3 Go Back to Bed”. I list napping as a hobby. I am probably going to take a nap as soon as I’m done writing this (which, for the record, I’m writing on 1/2/17 which I have off from work – I am not napping on the clock!).
All kidding aside, sleep is very important to human health. As long as you have water you will die from lack of sleep sooner than you will die from lack of food. Driving while sleep deprived greatly increases your chances of having an accident. Long term sleep deprivation increases your chances of many potentially deadly conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke.
So, everyone make sure to get your 8 hours tonight! It’s good for you. And pretty awesome too.
